Long ago, wild children and tiny little beings called “Whittle Bush Dwellers” played together in harmony. They would tell each other stories of their history, laugh together, learn from each other and most of all, love the Earth they shared. Climbing, swimming, exploring, discovering, singing and meditating in the bush was how they spent their days.
Then, ever so slowly, less and less children came to play. The Whittle Bush Dwellers were left in the bush, waiting, wondering where all the children had gone.
As the years went on, they grew sad that no children were coming to play with them any more, but continued waiting, just in case.
Until one day, they heard tiny footsteps, some children had returned to the bush! A little boy and a little girl looked down at the Whittle Bush Dwellers and smiled, and with those smiles, came hope.
The more time we spend outside, the more Whittle Bush Dwellers we will see, so go and find them!
Each tiny being is completely and beautifully unique, just like us. No two are the same and they all have imperfections, cute little details and impurities (we call them bush birth marks). They are made of locally and sustainability sourced timber and hand carved. This means that they bear the marks of their creator.
If you are looking for smooth, refined, symmetrical or “display shelf” looks, you won’t find them here. Each Bush Dweller is rough and tells its own story, we believe that’s part of the charm!
They are wise, whimsical, funny and have a personality of their own.
There is no lacquers or paints used. The eyes are permanent ink. Gathered from fallen wood.
They are open ended and gender-less, meaning that they do not have to do or be anything except what the child imagines them to be.
Sometimes little Earthlings just need a bit of inspiration when it comes to going outside and exploring. Our discovery packs are perfect for tiny hands and contain a few special little provocations to get little minds thinking. Each pack contains a magnifying glass, feathers, a banksia pod, up-cycled colour cards, shells and an Indigenous story stone.
Each of these elements can spark imagination and joy, especially if all the toys have been payed with and all the books have been read!
After making a mobile out of recycled and found materials for my daughter, I was hooked. These mobiles are naturally sourced and made entirely out of recycled materials. Each one is completely unique and create a stunning addition to any little Earthlings room.
